In 2021, Havens distributed 1,903 grants totaling over $1,352,300 to individuals and families all across New York City. The average grant was $711.

• The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic was identified as the number one reason a beneficiary needed a grant (27%).
• Over 50% of all Havens' grants provided housing-related needs including rent/mortgage, furnishings, utilities, and moving/storage.
• 10% of the beneficiaries were children 18 years and younger, and another 20% were young adults 19 to 29 years old. Seniors 60 and older received 20% of our grants.
• One-third of all beneficiaries were employed at the time they received a Havens grant. Again, only 4% reported living in households earning more than $40,000.
