In 2020, Havens distributed 1,990 grants totaling over $1,290,000 to individuals and families all across New York City. The average grant was $649.

• As a reflection of the impact of COVID-19, food grants accounted for 8% of Havens grants, an increase of 271% over 2019. 
• Almoners made over 475 grants to over 1,220 individuals and families during March and April 2020, the first severe COVID-19 wave in NYC. 
• Over 60% of all Havens' grants provided housing-related needs including rent/mortgage, furnishings, utilities, and moving/storage.
• One-third of all beneficiaries were employed at the time they received a Havens grant. Only 4% reported living in households earning more than $40,000.
