Unique Strategy

The following founding principles have guided Havens' work since its inception in 1871.

Havens grants are:

• given by one individual to another, rather than through institutions or agencies;
• conferred directly and quickly to an individual in need with a minimum of administrative overhead;
• used to address problems that can be solved with a one-time grant; and
• granted confidentially and anonymously.

Please note, Havens does not consider unsolicited requests for grants. All grants are made through an Almoner.
